How To Get Smoke Smell Out of Your Car

Let’s say you’ve found a great used car in Mesa. It’s got a low number of miles on the odometer, a wealth of great features, and is in tip-top shape. It’s a perfect car, except for one problem — the scent of old cigarette smoke that permeates the cabin. Cigarette smoke will soak into your car’s porous materials and stink up the joint well after the last cigarette’s been smoked. Cactus Jack's Auto has the story on how to get the smoke smell out of your car and how to finance your car for as little as $500 down.

How To Get Smoke Smell Out of Your Car: Cloth

When you have cloth upholstery, you can clear out the smoke smell and make your Surprise drive a better one by gathering baking soda and a vacuum then following these easy steps:

  1. Do an intense vacuum of the carpet and upholstery. Vacuum under the seats and in the crevices to remove any ash that may be in tight spots.
  2. After your vacuuming is done, put a liberal amount of baking soda on the upholstery as well as the carpet. Baking soda is a great tool to get rid of odors and it can trap the cigarette smoke smell and suck it right out.
  3. Once you’ve given the baking soda a little time to sit, pick it up with the vacuum. If you still smell smoke, keep laying down the baking soda and removing it until it’s gone. For best results, leave an open box of baking soda in your car for 48 hours to get the most smell out.

How To Get Smoke Smell Out of Your Car: Leather

Smoke has a way of finding its way into leather seats as well, so if you’re in Glendale and have leather seats or leather interior trim, you’ll need a special leather cleaning formula, available at your local auto parts store. Just follow these steps!

  1. Using the cleaner, clean your car’s interior surfaces to lift the smoke from the leather fibers.
  2. If you’ve still got an ambient smoke smell, keep on cleaning as many times as you have to to get the smoke residue out to the best of your ability.
